Taylor Glover Finishes 2-for-3 with Double, Two Stolen Bases
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Senior Taylor Glover went 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases, but the CSUN softball team (24-14, 4-3 BWC) lost 3-0 to UC Santa Barbara in the opening game of a three-game Big West Conference series at Campus Diamond. Senior Karlie Habitz added a single and a walk, but the Matadors' offense was sluggish for most of the day against UCSB starter Veronika Gulvin.Â
CSUN struggled offensively against Gulvin all day. She induced 15 fly ball outs, including eight on the infield, in the complete game victory. She had two strikeouts and walked two, but the Matadors were never quite able to figure her out. Â
Glover had two of the Matadors' three hits on the day. Her two stolen bases gives her 19 for the season and 88 for her career, moving her into second outright in Big West Conference history.Â
UCSB scored twice in the bottom of the third and then added a run in the fifth. CSUN committed four errors in the field to help the Gauchos cycle through the batting line-up.Â
CSUN starter Daphne Pofek (11-5) was chased from the circle in the bottom of the third. In all, she allowed two earned runs in 2.1 innings with a strikeout. Taylor Troost tossed the final 3.2 innings, allowing one hit and one earned run.Â
After going 0-for-3, senior Taylor Nate saw her school-record streak of 30-straight games reaching safely come to an end.Â
The Matadors will look to rebound Saturday when they take on the Gauchos in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.Â
