Â
Usen Jr. played a significant role in both wins. Tied at 1-1 against the Spartans, the Houston, TX native provided the game-winning goal in the 68th minute when he scored on a header. It was his Big West leading third game-winner of the year.
Â
The Matadors defeated Grand Canyon 4-2 thanks in large part to Usen Jr.'s exploits. He leveled the score at 1-1, scoring off an assist from Jumoke Hutton for the second time that week. Usen Jr. took Hutton's throw in and scored once again on a head for his conference-best fifth goal of the season.
Â
The score was tied again at 2-2 late in the game when the Houston native delivered a low cross into the box, which Papi Diouf tapped in from eight yards out for the 3-2 lead. The game-winning helper marked the second assist of the year for Usen Jr.
Entering this week's action, Usen Jr. leads the Big West with five goals and is 13th in Division I in the category. He has scored at least once in the past three matches (4 total). He has added two assists during the span and has recorded a league leading 12 points which is 16th in Division I.Â
