CSUN Continues Play At Weinman Foundation Invitational

Day 2 Results
HONOLULU---CSUN continued women's tennis action Friday on day two of the University of Hawai'i's Weinman Foundation Invitational.

Mari Taslagyan and Elisa Elhadj picked up singles' victories for the Matadors. Taslagyan defeated Alzbeta Houbova of the host Rainbow Wahine 6-3, 6-4. Elhadj earned a 6-4, 0-6, 10-7 decision against Hawai'i's Marina Hruba.

Kiryang Kim went three sets against Aneta Miksovska of Washington State, but would just come up short, 6-1, 2-6, 10-4. Monika Van de Vondel was defeated by Tiffany Mylonas of Washington State 6-2, 7-5. Skyla Alcon, Arpe Bagumyan, and Alicia Dinkelmeyer each fell in straight sets during singles play.

Elhadji and Dinklemeyer would post the lone CSUN doubles' victory on the day as the duo defeated Taylor Lau and Alzbeta Houbova of Hawai'i 6-4. Elisaveta Nosenko and Bagumyan went to 7-5 against Marina Hruba and Michelle Pitts of Hawai'i before losing.

"We definitely picked up it up today," said CSUN head coach Gary Victor. "We tried to make the focus of the day passion and energy. Mari and Elisa both won their singles matches while batting injuries. Ki and Monika fought hard and improved upon their performances from yesterday, but came up short."

CSUN's stay at the Weinman Foundation Invitational concludes on Saturday. Play is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. (PT).
