STOCKTON, Calif. - Freshman Mats Ege fired a three-under 69 Tuesday and moved up to fifth-place while the CSUN Men's Golf team slipped four spots to eighth after round two of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
Ege, who began the day tied for ninth, moved into the top-five after matching his low round of the season. Junior Blake Brothers and senior Michael Zhang, competing as an individual, also posted improvements in the second round but no other Matador player was able to improve from round one to round two.
After an opening-round 289, the Matadors posted a team round of 290 on Tuesday to drop into a tie for eighth-place at (+3) 579. San José State (563) continues to lead the 16-team field as the Spartans lead second-place BYU by four shots.
CSUN SCORES
"Obviously Mats played well and the team didn't play horribly, we just didn't capitalize on some of the easier holes. I'd love to see multiple rounds in the 60's tomorrow and finish the fall with our low round of the season."Â
The Matadors will be paired with Grand Canyon and Sacramento State for the final round which gets underway Wednesday morning with CSUN tee times beginning at 7:54 a.m.
