CSUN Splits On Day 2 Of Kajikawa Classic

TEMPE, Ariz.—CSUN split a pair of game on day two of the Kajikawa Classic Saturday afternoon.  Â
Game 1
Utah defeated CSUN 7-0 in Saturday's first game.
CSUN took home its maiden victory of the season when the Matadors defeated Western Michigan 9-2 to conclude Saturday's game
"Kenedee did a great job coming in against Utah. We put ourselves in a position to score runs, we were getting on, we just didn't execute when it counted. Megan set the tone by swinging early in the count against Western Michigan. We got the bunt down when it counted and we were aggressive on the bases."

The tournament concludes Sunday when CSUN plays No. 12 Arizona State at 1 p.m. Pacific/2 p.m. Mountain (moved up from the originally scheduled 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT). Game 1
Utah defeated CSUN 7-0 in Saturday's first game.
- RBI's from Alyssa Barrerra (on a double) and Abby Robertson (on a bases loaded walk) in the top of the first sent the Utes into the lead.
- A Hailey Hilburn home run in the top of the third combined with a Makayla Hurst RBI single increased the advantage to 4-0.
- CSUN had runners in scoring position in both the fifth and sixth innings but could not take advantage.
- A Katie Faulk two-RBI double highlighted a Utah scoring rally that resulted in three runs in the top of the seventh and the final 7-0 score.
- Utah outhit the Matadors 10-7. Mackenzie Babbitt and Megan Stevens each posted two hit for CSUN. Kenedee Jamerson was 1-of-2 at the plate. She would post the final 4.1 innings in the circle for the Matadors, giving up five hits and striking out two.Â

- Stevens recorded a lead-off home run on the fourth pitch of the game to break the seal for the Matadors. Stevens cleared the bases with a two-out double in the top of the second for a 4-0 score.
- CSUN scored an unearned run in the top of the fourth before the Broncos responded with their two runs of the game in the bottom of the frame.
- The Matadors scored four runs with two outs in the top of the sixth. Babbitt and Jessica Alexander both charted an RBI while the other two runs came in on passed balls.
- Jillian James pitched the first four innings to pick up the victory before Elise Madison tossed the final three innings for the save. The duo combined on a seven-hitter.
- Stevens was 2-for-3 with two runs scored to go along with her four RBI. Raquel Jaime went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Â
