GAME 1
- Kiarra Crockett-Pope's home run to lead off the bottom of the 11th inning gave CSUN a 4-3 victory to open the day.
- Kira Cauley led off the CSUN first with a double to left center. Mackenzie Babbitt's grounder to third advanced Cauley to third. Megan Stevens was intentionally walked for the sixth consecutive plate appearance dating back to last week's series against UC Riverside. Journey Rojas grounded into a double play to end the inning.
- Jillian James retired the first nine batters she faced before giving up a leadoff single to Noellah Ramos in the top of the fourth. Noa Yakir's bunt was fielded by James who attempted to throw Ramos out at second, but Ramos was safe at second. Makenna Young, Cal Poly's leading hitter, fouled out to Gator Rascon, the CSUN catcher.
- Lily Amos, the Mustangs' cleanup hitter, struck out looking for the second out. James worked out of the threat when she got Crimson Kaiser ground into a 6-4 fielders's choice to end the inning.
- Babbitt began the Matadors' fourth. The Mustangs elected to pitch to Stevens who responded with her 12th home run of the season, an opposite field shot to right, on a 1-2 count off of Steffi Best.
- With two outs, Kiarra Crockett-Pope singled to left. Alyssa Vazquez reached on an infield single. Both runners advanced two bases on a Cal Poly error which allowed Crockett-Pope to score for the third Matadors' run.Â
- With a runner on second and two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Stevens was going to be intentionally walked again, but with the count 2-0, Stevens reached out over the plate and lined out to Ramos, the Cal Poly centerfielder, in right center for the third out.Â
- James hit Ramos with one out in the top of the sixth. Yakir hit a grounder to James who tried to throw out Ramos at second. Ramos reached base on a CSUN error. Young flew out to left prior to Amos doubling down the left field line to plate Ramos.
- With runners on second and third, Kaiser doubled to right center to tie the score at three. Hailey Martin grounded out to second to wrap up the inning.
- Jessica Alexander singled up the middle with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Crockett-Pope flew out to center. Alexander stole second with Vazquez at the plate. Vazquez grounded out to Best in the circle for the final out.Â
- Rascon opened the bottom of the seventh by reaching on a Cal Poly error that allowed her to advance to second. Jaymi Steward pinch-ran for Haileigh Gonzalez. Gonzalez bunted, reached first for hit and took advantage of the Cal Poly lack of defense and advanced to second for a double.
- Cauley popped out to short to bring up Babbitt. Babbitt bunted, the ball was fielded by Yakir, the third baseman, who threw home to retire Steward. Stevens was intentionally walked to load the bases for Rojas. Rojas grounded out to third to send the game into extra innings.Â
- Alexander led off the CSUN eighth with a single to left. Crockett-Pope successfully sacrificed Alexander to second. Best struck out Vazquez before getting Rascon to pop out to short as the game went to the ninth.
- Martin reached on a two-out single in the top of the ninth. Jackie Napoli pinch-ran for Martin as Cal Poly went to a pinch-hitter, Kianah Corey. James struck out Corey, her fifth of the game.
- Stevens was intentionally walked to start the CSUN 10th. Aaliyah Swan pinch-ran for Stevens as Rojas came to the plate. Rojas put a bunt down that was fielded by Yakir who threw to first for the out. Swan tried to advance to third on the play but was thrown out at the base by second baseman Sarah Wulff to Young, the catcher covering at third.
- Yakir walked to get the Cal Poly 11th underway, the first issued by James on the day. Young's sac bunt was successful as Yakir took second. Amos flew out to left. Kaiser popped out to first to end it, setting the stage for Crockett-Pope's seventh home run of the year to win it for the Matadors.
- James tied her career high by throwing all 11 innings. She tossed a four-hitter and ended the game with five strikeouts and the one walk. She threw 131 pitches, 86 for strikes. Best also went the distance for Cal Poly. She gave up 10 hits, struck out four, and walked three on 136 pitches, 81 for strikes.
- Crockett-Pope, Alexander, and Gonzalez each had two hits for the Matadors.Â
GAME 2
- Cal Poly defeated CSUN 3-2 in the nightcap.
- The Matadors threatened in the bottom of the second. Crockett-Pope walked and moved to second on a Kenedee Jamerson base hit. Sarah Duran and Maddie Johnson entered as pinch-runners for Rascon.
- Rascon singled to push Duran to third, she rounded the base too far, catching Johnson in a rundown at second for the second out. Gonzalez singled to center to plate Duran for a 1-0 lead.
- Jamerson served as the CSUN starting pitcher and retired eight in a row before Amos reached on an error with one out in the fourth. Kaiser doubled to right to advance Amos to third. Martin grounded out to second which allowed Amos to score and tie the game at one.
- Young doubled to right center to score Kaiser and give the Mustangs their first lead of the day. Shelby Jefferies' infield single drove in Young to increase the lead to two.
- Alyssa McKiernan was hit by a Jamerson pitch. Corey pinch-hit once again, this time facing Stevens, who came on in relief. Corey walked to load the bases. Ramos would line out to conclude matters.
- With one out, Jamerson singled. She advanced to second when Rascon fouled out. Gonzalez battled back from 0-2 in the count to Dakota Casper to double to right and score Jamerson. An Amos diving catch of a Cauley fly ball to left kept the game at 3-2. Â
- CSUN put runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, but Gonzalez grounded into a fielder's choice at short to end the inning.
- Cauley opened the CSUN seventh by reaching on an error by McKiernan, the Cal Poly shortstop. Babbitt bunted for an infield single which brought up Stevens with runners on first and second. Stevens hit a grounder to Yakir at third. Yakir was diving on the play and was able to touch the bag at third for the first out.
- Rojas popped out to right before Alexander lined out to right to end the ball game.
- Kaiser was 2-for-4 for the Mustangs. Cal Poly's Dakota Casper tossed a complete game, giving up a total of nine hits to CSUN.
- Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two RBI to pace the Matadors. Jamerson and Rascon both added two hits.
