Matadors Host Nationally-Ranked Opponents This Week

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.— CSUN concludes a four-match homestand this week with a pair of matches against nationally-ranked opponents.
The Matadors welcome Washington to Northridge on Thursday night. Kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Huskies are ranked seventh in the Soccer America Top 25, eighth in the United Soccer Coaches Association Top 25, 10th in the College Soccer News Top 30 poll, and 11th in this week's TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25.
At 4-0, Washington has defeated two ranked opponents this season (#18 Denver and #16 Michigan State). Blake Bodily and Gio Miglietti have both scored two goals and each have posted an assist to lead Washington in scoring.
Bryce Logan has started three of the four matches in goal. He has made 15 saves and has recorded two shutouts. For his efforts in 1-0 victories over Michigan and Michigan State, he was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week Sept. 9. This is the sixth time that CSUN and Washington are playing each other with the Huskies leading the all-time series 2-0-3.
Play continues Sunday when the Matadors host UCLA at 6 p.m. The Bruins, ranked 13th in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25 this week, fell to 2-2 on the year Monday night when No. 6 Georgetown defeated UCLA 5-1. The Bruins were coming off a 3-2 victory over No. 1 Maryland before the Georgetown contest. UCLA is ranked 20th in the Soccer America Top 25.
Milan Iloski is sixth in Division I this week in goals scored with four. Iloski is ninth in D-1 with nine points and is third in points per game (3.0). Justin Garces has been the goalie of record in all four matches for UCLA this season. He has made 17 saves. CSUN defeated the Bruins 2-1 last season in Los Angeles. This is the 24th time that the teams are playing men's soccer with UCLA leading the all-time series 17-3-3.

After going 1-0-1 last week, the Matadors are ranked 27th in the College Soccer News Top 30. CSUN received the most points of any team not in the United Soccer Coaches Association Top 25 and also earned votes in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25.
CSUN tied Utah Valley 2-2 before defeating San Francisco 6-0. The six goals are the third most in a match at the Division I level by a CSUN squad, marking the sixth time since the Matadors moved up in 1991 that CSUN put up six in a match.
The Matadors' eight assists against USF are the fifth most in a match at the D-1 level (the third time that it has occurred) while the 20 points are the fourth most at the Division I level by CSUN (the third time that the Matadors had 20 points in a match). CSUN's 3-0-1 start is the best for the program since 2013 when the Matadors opened the year 7-0.
With five assists, Julio Rubio begins the week of Sept. 9 tied with two others for the Division I lead in the category. Daniel Trejo is the national leader in shots on goal per game (3.5). As of Sept. 8, CSUN leads Division I in goals scored with 15. The Matadors are second in D-1 in points per game (11.75).
