HOW IT HAPPENED
- UCLA (3-2) opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Milan Illosi took advantage of a CSUN turnover and scored from in front of the Matadors' net.
- CSUN came back a little under 15 minutes later. Wolfgang Prentice sent the ball to Johnny Rodriguez. A touch pass from Rodriguez to Daniel Trejo who tied the game from inside the 10-yard box.
- Illoski would put the Bruins up 2-1 at 54:19 as he converted a Riley Ferch pass. Cody Sundquist increased the Bruins' advantage as Illoski sent the ball from left to right on a drive. Sundquist dribbled in and scored.
- Trejo recorded his team-leading seventh goal of the season with 18:20 to play. Prentice's cross found Trejo inside the box to cut into the UCLA lead.
- Eric Illoski put home an insurance goal for the Bruins in the 84th minute. Matthew Powell's attempt from point-blank range was saved by CSUN goalie Paul Lewis. The rebound came back out in front where Illoski tallied his first goal of the season.
- UCLA outshot CSUN 14-11, 8-5 on goal. The Matadors had three corner kicks, compared to just one for the Bruins. Lewis made four saves while Justin Garces had three before leaving the match in the 85th minute due to injury. Cameron Douglas played the final 5+ minutes for UCLA.
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH TERRY DAVILA
- "After playing No. 8 Washington on Thursday, UCLA took advantage of not having a mid-week game and they were prepared for us. We played off of our back foot for most of the night. We weren't as explosive as I would like for us to be. We tried our hardest and everybody gave it their best, but we weren't sharp enough."
UP NEXT
- CSUN (4-1-1) travels to Portland (3-2-1) Friday night for a 7 p.m. kick. The match will be streamed by the W.tv.
