CSUN Takes On UC Davis Wednesday; Hosts Cal Poly Saturday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.-- CSUN (9-10) looks to continue the strong start to the 2019-20 season as the Matadors face UC Davis Wednesday night in a matchup that features the two teams tied for first in the Big West (4-1) to begin the week. The 6 p.m. tip will be streamed by BigWest.tv.

UC Davis defeated Cal Poly 42-36 on Saturday for the Aggies' fourth consecutive victory and improve UCD to 9-9 overall. As a team, UC Davis is second in the Big West in scoring (67.1), field goal shooting (41.3) and leads the league in three-point shooting (36.2).

Individually, Katie Toole leads the conference in three-point shooting (50.0, 28-56). She is second in the Big West in field goal shooting (52.8) and is sixth in scoring (14.9). This is the 44th meeting between CSUN and UC Davis. The Aggies swept the season series from the Matadors a year ago and lead the all-time series 26-17.

Wednesday's game caps off a three-game road swing for CSUN. The Matadors return home Saturday when CSUN hosts Cal Poly at 4 p.m. Kevin Strauss has the call on BigWest.tv. Fans will have the opportunity to win a 55" inch TV upon their arrival to the Matadome. Entries will be placed in the East Lobby for the contest.

CSUN reached the 20-steal plateau again on Jan. 23 when the Matadors made exactly 20 steals in the 56-51 victory at UC Irvine. Entering this week, CSUN is the league leader in steals (10.6) and is 26th in Division I in the category (202). The Matadors are 31st in Division I in steals per game to begin this week.

Jordyn Jackson scored a team-high 14 points at UC Irvine. She was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line including four in a row in the final minute of play that secured the win. CSUN is off to a 4-1 start in Big West play for the first time since the 2012-13 season and is only the fourth time that the Matadors have begun Big West play 4-1.
