HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Matadors were without the services of Ekaterina Repina and Jacquie Tan. Without those two players, CSUN was forced to default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
- The dual began with Jolene Coetzee and Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso defeating Bronte Murgett and Natasha Bronte 6-2. With doubles tied at one due to the default, the Lobos took the point when Sara Kuuttlia-Webbert and Myu Kageyama defeating Emma Roenholt and Lisa-Marie Wurst 6-3.
- Fraile Toboso opened singles play with a straight-set victory at No. 2 (6-3, 6-0) against Murgett. Fraile Toboso was down 3-1 at one point in the first set. Natasha Munday defeated Lisa-Marie Wurst 6-4, 6-2 to make it 2-1 in favor of the Lobos.
- After going down 4-0 in the opening set, Coetzee handed Kuuttlia-Webbert a 6-1, 6-4 defeat at No. 1 singles to tie the dual at two. Roenholt defeated Alisa Manolescu at No. 3 singles 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) for a 3-2 CSUN advantage. With the default in their favor looming at No. 6, New Mexico (2-3) clinched the dual victory at No. 5 singles when Albie Huang defeated Lauren Anderson 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
- "We are very, very proud of how our five competed today minus Kat and Jacquie. We played a good team without our one and three players from the previous match and were within a set of coming back. We are so proud of our persistence. Jolene was down 4-0, 40-0 in the second. Ana was down 3-1 in the first and Emma was down 5-1 in the first. "I'm proud of Lauren for competing so well."
