CSUN Extends Winning Streak; Defeats LA Tech 4-1

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN tennis team extended its winning streak to three Thursday afternoon as the Matadors defeated Louisiana Tech 4-1.

- Ekaterina Repina and Jacquie Tan started the dual with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles against Ana Jover and Claudia Oravcova. Jolene Coetzee and Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 decision against Nadja Manjon and Andrea Perez-Lopez. With the point already decided, there was no No. 3 doubles match.
- Lisa-Marie Wurst kicked off singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 versus Perez-Lopez. Jover defeated Tan at No. 2 singles 7-5, 6-1 to get the Lady Techsters on the board. Repina put the Matadors up 3-1 when she defeated Manjon 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 1 slot. The dual came to an end when Victoria Santibañez Luna handed Claudia Oravcova 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 defeat at No. 6 singles. Matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles were unfinished.

- "This was a win for our freshman by our freshman. Lisa played great and Victoria finished sets extremely well. Kailen played very good doubles. We competed hard through a challenging match."

- CSUN's (6-2) dual against Abliene Christian that was scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 10 was canceled by ACU as the program elected not to travel to California due to the risk of Coronavirus that has hit the state. With the cancellation, the next CSUN dual will be Tuesday, Mar. 17 at Florida National University (3-13) in Hialeah. First serve is set for 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET.
