NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Seniors Lexi McLeod, Nicole Nevarez and Seyvion Waggoner combined for 19 kills as each played her final home match but the Matadors fell in straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-15) to UC Santa Barbara in a Big West Conference match Tuesday at The Matadome.
The Matadors see their two-match win streak snapped as they slip to 7-22 overall and 6-13 in the Big West Conference. With the win, the Gauchos improve to 20-11 overall and 16-3 in conference play.

COACH SUSIE TERRUSA SAID
"Tonight's match was all about our seniors. I thought we played hard but came up short against a very good Santa Barbara team. I want to thank our seniors for their dedication to CSUN and the women's volleyball program."
FIRST SET
The Matadors were within one at 7-6 in the early stages of the match when the visitors outscored CSUN 6-1 over the next seven points to force a Matador timeout at 13-7. After CSUN used a UCSB service error to get within four (17-13), the Gauchos claimed two of the next three points to regain a six-point edge at 19-14. CSUN could not get within five points the rest of the way as UCSB claimed the opening set, 25-17.
SECOND SET
After being out-hit in set one (.438-.182), the Matadors connected at a .273 clip before falling by two. Neither team led by more than two points until the Gauchos scored three straight to open up a 15-11 cushion. CSUN then engineered a 6-2 run, capped by a Bradford ace, to knot the score at 17-17. But three straight UCSB points forced a Matador timeout at 20-17. CSUN rallied to within one point five times down the stretch - the last at 24-23 - before a Deni Wilson kill sent the Gauchos to the 25-23 win.
THIRD SET
Holding a slim 9-8 lead in the final set, UCSB scored eight consecutive points to open up an insurmountable 17-8 lead. Consecutive kills from Orshoff pulled the Matadors within six at 17-11 but CSUN would get no closer in dropping the third set by the score of 25-15.
