The Matadors outhit CSUN 11-10. Four CSUN players (Lemus, Swan, Favre, and Jamerson) each had two hits. CSUN left nine runners on base, compared to six for the Mustangs. Cal Poly had three players (Jeffries, Diaz, Maddie Amos) with two hits.
"Cal Poly played a great game today and we came out and competed and fought until the last pitch," said CSUN head coach Charlotte Morgan. "We have to clean up a few things on both sides of the field. We are asking our players to play positions and do some things that they aren't used to and they are handling it like they have played at those position for their whole career. The top of our lineup gave us opportunities to score and we have to as an offense be able to string more runs together. Losing is a way to learn and grow and that's what we will do."
CSUN hosts Hawai'i next weekend. Friday's single game begins at 3 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader gets underway at 1 p.m. All links for coverage are available on GoMatadors.com.
