SAN MARCOS, Calif. - A final round (-1) 71 gave Blake Brothers a two-shot win Tuesday at the St. Mark Intercollegiate, CSUN's final tuneup before the Big West Championship.
Brothers, who opened the day tied for first with UCSD's Ryan Vaughan, had seven pars, one birdie and one bogey on both the front nine and back nine Tuesday to finish the day at even-par 71. The Matador junior (67-71-71) defeated a pair of Tritons' Vaughan and Jared Gross by two shots for CSUN's first individual tournament win since Felix Mory won the Big West Championship in 2017.
The Matadors (859) closed with a team round of 292 to finish two shots behind UC San Diego (857) while UC Riverside was third at 888. CSUN's tournament score of 859 was a season-low as was the Matadors' opening round 276 and the 36-hole total of 566.

COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"Blake really grinded out the win today, he made a lot of good pars. He missed some putts for birdies which could've increased his lead but he had a solid tournament. We were down a man but still shot eight-under in the first round so It was something to build on as we get ready for conference in two weeks." Â
CSUN next competes at the 2021 Big West Championship which will be held at La Quinta Country Club on May 2-4.
