LA QUINTA, Calif. - Behind the third top-10 finish of the season for Blake Brothers, the CSUN men's golf team finished sixth following the final round of the 2021 Big West Men's Golf Championship Tuesday at La Quinta Country Club.
Brothers, who has first and third place finishes this season, finished fourth in the 45-player field following a final round one-over 73 on Tuesday. His fourth-place finish is CSUN's best since Felix Mory won the 2017 individual title at Sandpiper GC in Santa Barbara.
Brothers, who pulled within two shots of the lead at various points on Tuesday, had consecutive birdies at No. 5 and No. 6 to get to one-under for the day. He closed the front nine with a bogey and two pars to make the turn at even-par. A birdie three at No. 10 moved him back to one-under before playing two-over over the final eight holes to finish one-over for the day and one-under for the championship.Â

COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"We needed to shoot even-par or under-par as a team today to move up and just didn't get it done. I thought Blake hit the ball very well today, he just had some bad luck on the greens. I'm proud of the way he played this season, he was solid and consistent in virtually every tournament. I'm also very happy to see Tomas play well, he's worked very hard to get his game back in shape. With the exception of Tomas graduating, we'll look forward to having all these guys back next season."
