CSUN Opens Spring Women's Tennis Schedule at Long Beach State

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN Women's Tennis team opens the 2022 Spring schedule this week as CSUN plays in the Long Beach State Winter Invitational.
The tournament will use a hidden dual format. Play begins on Friday, Jan. 21, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 23. In addition to CSUN, other teams entered are Boise State, Long Beach State, Portland State. Representing the Matadors are Jolene Coetzee, Jenna Dorian, Ekaterina Repina, Victoria Santibañez Luna, Sasha Turchak, and Yuliia Zhytelna.
"We are paying high level competition that will prepare us for the season ahead," said CSUN head coach Gary Victor. "We are excited for the opportunity to play."
The Matadors are coming off a Fall in which CSUN entered seven tournaments. Dorian won the Singles Flight B at the Long Beach State Invitational. She posted a 9-4 singles mark during the Fall for the Matadors. Magdalena Hedrzak tallied the most singles victories during the Fall for CSUN with 10.
Coetzee and Ana Fraile Toboso took home doubles titles at the SDSU Invite (Scarlet Bracket) and CSUN Fall Invitational (A Bracket). The Matador duo would post the most victories for CSUN during the Fall as the pair went 11-3. Hedrzak and Santibañez Luna teamed up late in the Fall and won the C Bracket at the CSUN Fall Invitational.
