Final Round 313 Moves CSUN Into Seventh Place at Big-O Classic

OMAHA, Neb. - After posting team rounds of 333 and 331 on Monday, the CSUN women's golf team fired the second-lowest round of the day Tuesday to move into seventh place at the conclusion of the Big-O Classic at Oak Hills Country Club.Â
The Matadors shaved 18 strokes off their second round total as they fired a team score of 313 on Tuesday. Team champions Wichita State also posted a final round 313 which was second only to the University of St. Thomas' 304 which was the low in Tuesday's final round. After notching seven birdies as a team over 36 holes on Monday, the Matadors had seven birdies in the final round.
Each Matador player matched or bettered her tournament low on Tuesday as sophomore Fernanda Sosa Stackpole finished a team-best 27th at 22-over 241. Sosa Stackpole was even-par through nine holes after birdies at No. 15 and No. 18. She would finish 6-over on her final nine holes to finish the day at 6-over 79 and the tournament at 22-over 241.

"I'm so proud of this group for pulling through and shooting the second-best team score of the day. To do that with only four players shows their grit and focus. I know we still have a lot to keep working on, but these small accomplishments are the building blocks to our future success."
The Matadors complete the fall portion of the 2022-23 schedule in three weeks as CSUN travels to Kapolei, Hawai'i for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Kapolei Golf Course.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Freshman Kim Turgut also had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday, finishing at 3-over 76. Turgut also had a pair of birdies over her opening nine holes as she made the turn at even-par. She then added a fourth birdie on her back nine as she finished 3-over which moved her into a tie for 31st at 23-over 242.
- Gracie Piar and Elle Laur tied for 38th at 28-over 247 as Piar closed out the tournament with a pair of birdies in posting a 5-over 78. Piar opened the day tied for 50th before vaulting 12 spots on the final leaderboard. Laur posted her second consecutive round of 80 which included 11 pars. Both Piar and Laur posted 29 pars over three rounds.
