CSUN Hosts UC San Diego & Fresno State This Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN Women's Tennis team returns home this weekend for a pair of competitions.
CSUN (3-1) hosts UC San Diego Saturday afternoon at noon. The Tritons are 2-8 overall, 1-4 in Big West play. UCSD has lost four in a row prior to Saturday's dual. Ella Pachl and Rachel Wagner have both won three times in singles to lead the team. Pachl and Sophie Pearson are the top doubles team with a 5-4 mark. The Matadors lead the all-time series 8-1. CSUN has won five in a row including a 4-0 decision last season in La Jolla.
The Matadors welcome Fresno State to the Matador Tennis Complex on Sunday. The action gets underway at 11 a.m. The Bulldogs are ranked 59th in the current ITA Women's National Team rankings. Fresno State is 8-2 before playing a doubleheader on Saturday at Cal State Fullerton (10 a.m.) and Azusa Pacific (3 p.m.).
Pang Jittakoat was named Mountain West Player of the Week Feb. 23 after going 4-0 in singles during the week. She is 8-3 in singles and 6-3 in doubles in 2022. Freshman Matilde Magrini has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week twice this season. Magrini has posted a 6-3 singles and a 5-3 doubles records this week.
After an 18-day hiatus, CSUN returned last week for a pair of duals. The Matadors defeated Sacrmento State 4-3 Feb. 24 before dropping the Big West opener 4-0 to UC Davis on Feb. 25. Sasha Turchak remained undefeated in singles (3-0) with a win at Sacramento State and an unfinished match at UC Davis. Magdalena Hedrzak is 3-1 in singles and has teamed with Turchak to post a 2-2 record in doubles.
