NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN Women's Tennis team returns home for the first time in 16 days when the Matadors (6-4, 2-2 Big West) host Cal Poly Saturday morning. The first set serve is 11 a.m.
The Mustangs have won four in a row after defeating Santa Clara 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon. Cal Poly is 9-4 overall, 2-0 in Big West play. At 9-2, Peyton Dunkle is the top singles player for the Mustangs. Emily Ackerman and Kim Bhunu are the top doubles team for Cal Poly with a 10-4 record. The all-time series between CSUN and Cal Poly began in 1979, with the Matadors leading 30-26.
CSUN split a pair of duals on the road last week. The Matadors dropped a 4-0 decision at Cal State Fullerton on Mar. 18 before defeating UC Irvine 4-1 on Mar. 20. For the second time in the past three duals, Victoria Santibañez Luna clinched the dual win for the Matadors when she defeated Emily Fowler in three sets at No. 5 singles. The victory over UCI was the 310th of head coach Gary Victor's career. Victor is 33rd among active Division I head coaches in dual victories.
