NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN Women's Basketball head coach Carlene Mitchell has announced the signing of Ana Carolina De Jesus to a National Letter of Intent to continue her career with the Matadors.
"We are excited to add a player with the experience and versatility that Ana brings to the court," Mitchell said. "Ana's skill set will be a great asset in our system. In addition, her passing ability and face-up game will complement our returning core group."
De Jesus transfers to CSUN from Eastern Florida State College, where the 6-3 forward was named first-team All-Conference. The Titans advanced to the 2022 NJCAA Division I Tournament, where De Jesus recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds in the 69-54 victory against Moberly Area CC in the first round. The victory marked the first time Eastern Florida State won a game in the NJCAA National Tournament. The Titans advanced to the quarterfinals before losing 64-62 in overtime to Jones College.
She averaged 5.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in 31 games. A native of Setubal, Portugal, she scored in double figures six times, with a season-high 12 coming on two occasions, while
playing limited minutes on a team with quality depth.
"Playing for a well-coached Eastern Florida team, we knew Ana would bring a winning mindset to our program. Academics were a critical element in Ana's decision-making process. With our renowned CTVA program and our proximity to the LA market, it was a perfect fit on and off the court."
She began her collegiate career at Northwest Florida State College, playing for the 2021 NJCAA National Champions in 22 games. De Jesus averaged 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds. She recorded a season-high 14 points against Gulf Coast College on Feb. 23, 2021.
De Jesus played her senior season of high school basketball at Elevation Prep Academy in Sarasota, Fla., where she averaged 11.2 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game. She also led the team in field goal shooting (48.0), blocked shots (1.2), and double doubles (5). Playing for Club
GD Essa from 2016 to 2019, she helped the team win the 2019 Fedracao Portuguesa Basquetebol (FBP) national championship.
De Jesus played for Portugal's U16, U18, and U20 National Teams and was part of Portugal's U16 team that won the silver medal at the 2015 European Championships.
A redshirt freshman in 2021-22, she will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
