NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN head women's basketball coach Carlene Mitchell announced the signing of Laney Amundsen to a National Letter of Intent to continue her collegiate career with the Matadors.
"We are thrilled to add Laney to our program; she is at stretch-four that shoots it extremely well from the three-point range and will add a rebounding presence to our team," Mitchell said.
A 6-1 forward, Amundsen joins the Matadors from Fresno City College, where she averaged 14.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game last season. In 25 appearances, she shot 48% from the field (135-281) and 36% from three-point range (36-100). In addition, Amundsen was 55-of-74 from the free throw line (76.4%). She scored a season-high 32 points against Reedley College on Jan. 22, 2022.
She posted 39 steals, 36 blocks, and 28 assists for the Rams a year ago. Amundsen was named first team All-Central Valley Conference as Fresno City College went 24-5 last season and advanced to the third round of the CCCAA Tournament. Amundsen also played beach volleyball for the Rams.
"Laney can fill the stat sheet with her versatility and competitive drive," said Mitchell. "She offers all the intangibles that successful teams must have on the court. Laney is a committed student-athlete that plans to pursue a career in the nursing field."
The younger sister of Matador guard Tess Amundsen, Laney Amundsen, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
