NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN head women's basketball coach Carlene Mitchell announced the signing of Cheyenne Givens to a National Letter of Intent to continue her collegiate career with the Matadors.
"We are thrilled to add a player with the experience and skill set that Cheyenne brings to the court," Mitchell said.
Givens is a grad transfer from Pepperdine, where she was second on the team in assists (48), tied for second in steals (27), and third in scoring (7.7) a year ago. Shooting 45.5% (70-of-154) from the field, the 5-7 guard was third on the club in the category. As a junior in 2020-21, Givens finished 10th in the WCC and led the Waves in steals with 39.
Givens began her collegiate career at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, where as a freshman in 2018-19, she was selected SCC Player of the Year and to the CCCWBCA South Region All-State first team. In leading the team to a conference title and an Elite Eight State Tournament appearance, Givens averaged 27.7 points per game for LATTC, including a season-high 41 against Mt. SAC. She also averaged 6.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
"Her mindset on the defensive end will add an element that we emphasize and will fit perfectly into our up-tempo style of play," said Mitchell. "I am excited that Cheyenne decided to stay close to home and had the confidence in her ability to impact our Matador program immediately."
