HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- After a Kanan kill pulled CSUN within one (9-8) in the opening set, the Anteaters put together off a 6-2Â run to open up a 15-10 lead. Down eight at 23-15, the Matadors claimed five of the next six to pull within 24-20Â but could get no closer as UCI closed out the 25-20 win.
- With the score tied at 8-8, a Barron kill fueled a 4-1 CSUN run that opened up a 12-9 advantage. But the Anteaters countered with a 3-0 run to knot the score at 12-12. The lead went back-and-forth as the two teams would forge a 21-21 tie. A Miller kill put CSUN up by one before UCI would close the set on a 4-1 run to seal a 25-23 win.
- After the visitors opened up a four-point advantage at 14-10, a Starkey kill propelled CSUN on a 4-0 to tie the score. After the Anteaters scored twice, the Matadors answered by claiming four of the next five to lead 18-17. But an ensuing 5-1 by UCI gave the visitors the margin they needed to take a 25-22 win.Â

ACCORDING TO COACHÂ JOHN PRICE
"I thought we passed pretty well tonight and offensively we were good enough to win all three sets. But what hurt us badly tonight were balls that were hit right at us. Their kill total was really inflated by our bad defense. They hit well tonight but especially in that last set, there were five or six balls that should have been dug."
