12/5/2023 4:05:00 PM | Men's Track & Field, Women's Track & Field
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head track & field coach Justin Johnson has announced the 2024 indoor schedule. The Matadors will travel to Arizona, New Mexico, Washington and Texas during the regular season before competing in the MPSF Championships in late February.
"Coming off of a great 2023 indoor and outdoor season, I am excited to announce our 2024 indoor schedule," said Johnson. "The team has shown a lot of growth during the fall and I know the student-athletes can't wait to get back on the road and start competing. We return several school record holders and conference champions. We also added some great talent in every event group. You will see a lot of productions from some of our newcomers. The 2024 season will be a continuation of the success we had last season. I am looking forward to getting the season going."
CSUN will kick off 2024 at Northern Arizona's Friday Night Axe 'Em Open on Friday, Jan. 12. From Jan. 26-27, the Matadors will compete at the New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque, N.M. while CSUN also sends a contingent to Seattle, Wash. for competition at the UW Invitational. The final tuneup before the conference championships is set for Feb. 9 at the University of Houston's Howie Ryan Invitational.
The Matadors return to Spokane, Wash. for the 2024 MPSF Indoor Championships from Feb. 25-26. The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held in Boston, Mass. this season from March 8-9.
CSUN is coming off a successful 2023 indoor season. The Matadors added a total of 10 all-time top-10 performances to the school record book. Logan Davis would become the first Matador since 2004 to win the 60m (:6.64) at the MPSF Championships while David Phillips, Jr. won the 200m at the event with a time of 21.02, which was the second quickest in school history. Arianna Alexander also broke the school record in the women's 60m dash (:7.43) during the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational preliminaries while her 200m time (:24.26) at the MPSFs was the 10th fastest all-time. Charne-Lee Olkers would also post the eighth-quickest time in school history in 60m (:8.61) at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
