CSUN took on the 12th-ranked Beach in its middle dual and came out on the short end of another 5-0 decision. The Matadors forced two of the five pairs to three sets but fell 15-10 in the No. 4 pair and 15-11 in the No. 5 pair. Long Beach opened the scoring in the No. 1 pair as Mallia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah topped Eknoian and Mae, 21-16, 21-18. The Beach took a 2-0 lead after Sydney Stevens and Julia Westby swept Sparks and Maughan by the score of 21-14, 21-17, then clinched the win with a 21-19, 21-10 win in the 3's as Megan Widener and Natalie Glenn topped McCarthy and Rogers.Â
Sweeting and Griego looked to get back in the win column, winning the opening set (21-19) over Haley Carrington and Holly Jackson in the No. 4 pair. CSU BAKERSFIELD 4, CSUNÂ 1
The Matadors met the Roadrunners for the second time this season with CSUB coming on top each time in close matches. The dual was even at 1-1 after the first two matches went final as CSUB's Megan Gilbert and Pearl Moore swept Alvarez and Waggoner (21-17, 21-18) in the 5's and Eknoian and Sparks swept Sophia Brandstetter and Hana Makonova in the 1's, 21-19, 21-13.
However, the Matadors would not get in the win column in the final three matches as Sweeting and Griego fell to Alanna Shields and Emma Bubelis in the No. 4 pair, 21-19, 21-11. The 'Runners would clinch their second win over CSUN at the No. 3's as Isabella Almeida and Hayley McCluskey took a tight 23-21, 22-20 decision over McCarthy and Rogers. The final match at No. 2 went the distance as Sophia Hladyniuk and Emma Ertelova came back after dropping the first set to Sparks and Maughan as CSUB claimed the match in three sets (13-21, 21-19, 21-19) to earn the 4-1 win.Â

COACH ARI HOMAYUNÂ SAID
"The Big West event is a great opportunity for us to figure out what we really need to work on to be at our best in April. Today, UH, Long Beach, and Bakersfield were more consistent than we were. We had moments when we were in all of the duals. We went to three on multiple courts and had opportunities, we just weren't able to execute. We can be pretty high-error on one extreme and then not aggressive enough on the other, and we need to find a middle ground. Luckily we have three more matches tomorrow and three more opportunities to play our best volleyball."

The Matadors finish the Bigger West Invitational with three matches on Sunday. CSUN opens the day against UC Davis at 10 a.m., followed by matches against Sacramento State (2 p.m.) and Cal Poly (4 p.m.) to wrap up the weekend.
