Long Beach State Defeats CSUN 5-2

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Long Beach State defeated CSUN 5-2 in Big West women's tennis action Friday afternoon at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
The Beach took the doubles point as Peppi Ramstedt and Rhona Cook defeated Sasha Turchak and Yuliia Zhytelna at No. 2 (6-3), Mathilde Tranberg and Hana Becirovic Novak defeated Cindy Ung and Vitoria Solis Urdiales at No. 3 (6-3).
Justine Dondoay opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 against Emma Moratalla Sanz. Sarah Medik toppled Jolene Coetzee 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 slot. Long Beach State (8-9, 4-3 Big West) clinched the dual at No. 5 when Doga Akyurek handed Tallia Harper a 7-5, 6-2 defeat.
The Matadors got on the board at No. 2 when Turchak defeated Ramstedt 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). Zhytelan followed with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 3 versus Cook. Angela Ho went to three sets at No. 5 against Tranberg. Tranberg won the first set 6-0 before Ho tied it 7-5 in the second. The third set went to a tiebreaker, with Tranberg winning 7-3 to earn the victory.

CSUN (14-5, 4-3 Big West) travels to UC San Diego (8-12, 1-6 Big West) on Sunday in the final road match of the regular season. The first serve is at noon.
