ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH GARY VICTOR
"The breaks and the tiebreaks went our way yesterday, and unfortunately for us, they went for Cal Poly today. Credit to Cal Poly for playing very well. Credit to our team for fighting adversity and injuries until the last point. Getting to four three-setters and winning three doubles shows we had our chances today."
"Jolene has been one of the great people/student-athletes any coach could ask for. Her character, integrity, and work ethic have been an example for all of us. This exceptional group of young ladies has impacted so many people. It is a privilege for (assistant coach) James (Ciuffo) and me to coach this team, and we look forward to next year."
PLAYER REACTION
"I'm so proud of my team, and I am and will forever be grateful for them," Coetzee said. "We all gave our best, left everything on the court, and we will come back stronger next year."
"I'm so proud of everyone," Turchak said. "We all fought till the end. It was a tough loss, but I'm so proud of everyone. This team shows so much bravery and is so special."
"It felt everything was against us, but we fought until the end," Zhytelna said. "Everyone left something on the court. I heard everyone. It was the toughest match, and unfortunately, we didn't win, but it made us stronger, tougher, and hungry for more."
Cal Poly (14-8) will play Hawai'i (13-7) in the finals Saturday at noon. Hawai'i defeated Long Beach State (11-10).
