CSUN Qualifies 2 Individuals & 1 Relay For NCAA Track Regional

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN men's track and field team will have three entries in the May 24-27 NCAA West Regional. Sacramento State will serve as the host.
David Phillips, Jr. competes in the 200m. Phillips, Jr. qualified for the 200m by running the third fastest time in school history, 20.78, at the Mar. 31 West Coast Relays. Phillips, Jr. is ranked 32nd in the field of 48.
The first round of the 200m is Wednesday, May 24, at 8:45 p.m. The top 24 advance to Friday's quarterfinals, which will run at 7:50 p.m.
The Matadors will send the 4x100m relay to the regional meet. CSUN qualified for the event when Christopher Allen, Logan Davis, James Crawford, and Phillips, Jr. broke the school record in the race as the team ran 39.68 at the West Coast Relays. The quartet, Wyatt Wiggins, Jr., and Luke DaVanon, are listed on Matadors' entry into the West Regional. CSUN received the final berth into the field of 24 for the 4x100m. The quarterfinals are Friday, May 26, at 5 p.m.
Finally, Bryson Williams enters the triple jump. Williams qualified for the event with a leap of 49-8 1/2 that won the triple jump at the Big West Track and Field Championships on May 14. As a result, Williams earned the final slot in the 48-man event that will be conducted on Friday, May 26 at 6 p.m.
