A Late CSUB PK Sends Roadrunners Past CSUN 1-0

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—A 76th-minute Cal State Bakersfield penalty kick proved the difference as the Roadrunners defeated CSUN 1-0 in Big West men's soccer action Saturday night at Matador Soccer Field.
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH TERRY DAVILA
After a CSUB corner kick, a Roadrunner offensive player was taken down in the box, leading to Connor Mautino's successful penalty kick attempt. The Matadors threatened with 1:10 to go. CSUN attacked the Roadrunner goal, which resulted in Levin Gerhardt taking a shot in front of the CSUB goal. His attempt went just high as the Roadrunners held onto the victory.

CSUN (2-5-4, 0-2 Big West) travels to Cal Poly (2-5-2, 0-1-1 Big West) on Wednesday. Coverage on ESPN+ begins at 7 p.m.

- Wenzel's 11 saves tie with two others for the fifth-most saves in a NCAA Division I match this season.
- Wenzel made a career-high 11 saves, tying him with two others for the sixth-highest total in a Division I match by a CSUN goalie.
- Wenzel has now made 156 career saves, moving him into eighth in school history in the category.
- After winning only two games last season, CSUB is now 5-1-4 overall and 1-0-1 in Big West play.
