1/30/2024 2:00:00 PM | Women's Golf
The Tri-Match will open with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and will feature one round (18 holes) of stroke play. The low four scores of five players will count toward the team total. In case of a tie for the first-place team, the No. 5 player's score will serve as the tiebreaker. In case of a tie for the individual title, the back 9 scores will serve as the tiebreaker. If a tie remains, the last 6 holes on the back 9 will serve as the tiebreaker.
The Course
Soule Park Golf Course is one of the Country's most highly regarded municipal golf courses. Situated in the spectacular Ojai Valley, Soule Park was ranked the 48th best municipal golf course in the country by Golf Week magazine in 2014. The golf course at Soule Park was originally designed by renowned architect William F. Bell in 1962. Bell was responsible for many other iconic Southern California golf courses including Torrey Pines (North and South) in San Diego and Sandpiper in Santa Barbara.
In 2005 Soule Park underwent a golf course renovation led by Gil Hanse who is one of the industry's most highly regarded modern-day golf course architects. Hanse was the architect responsible for designing the Olympic Golf Course for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, and has recently redesigned both the North and South golf courses at Los Angeles Country Club. Today, the course layout plays to just over 6800 yards from the Championship Tees, with a USGA Course Rating of 72.8 and a Slope of 128.
The Matadors
CSUN closed a successful fall portion of the 2023-24 season with a 10th-place finish at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Kapolei Golf Course last October. A pair of freshmen (Meghan Paracuelles and Nicole Tanoue) led the Matadors in scoring during the fall; Paracuelles finished at 74.33 in three tournaments (nine rounds) while Tanoue finished at 74.42 in four tournaments (12 rounds). Piar and Kim Turgut both wound up at 75.50 in four tournaments while Elle Laur (77.92) and Ellie Shirley (86.17) rounded out the Matador scoring averages in the fall.
