CSUN Tennis to Compete at ITA Southwest Regionals, Triton Fall Invite

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Tennis returns to competition this Thursday when several Matadors will take part in the 2024 ITA Southwest Regional Championship in San Diego while a pair are scheduled to compete at UC San Diego's Triton Invitational in La Jolla.

The 2024 ITA Southwest Regionals will be hosted by San Diego State and the University of San Diego with the tournament set to run from Thursday, Oct. 17 to Tuesday, Oct. 22. The Matadors will send five participants to the regionals, which include seniors Yuliia Zhytelna, Victoria Santibañez Luna and Cindy Ung and juniors Angela Ho, Emma Moratalla Sanz and Tallia Harper.
In the singles Round of 64, Santibañez Luna, Moratalla Sanz, Ho and Harper will each compete on Thursday at San Diego State. The Matadors also have three doubles teams competing at the regionals as Ho and Zhytelna will be a team up, Santibañez Luna and Ung join forces and Harper and Moratalla Sanz compete as a team.
Triton Fall Invitational - Oct. 17-20
CSUN sends freshmen Sydney Wilson and Madison Shepperson to compete at the Triton Fall Invitational this weekend. Each will compete in the main draw singles Round of 16 as well as a team in the main doubles Round of 8.
LAST TIME OUT
CSUN competed at the Beach Fall Tennis Tournament from Oct. 3-6 which saw the Matadors collect 16 total victories across singles and doubles play. The weekend would be highlighted by the duo of Yuliia Zhytelna and Angela Ho which defeated duos from Hawai'i, Cal Poly and UC Davis to advance to the main draw doubles semifinal round. Zhytelna and Ho were denied a final appearance by a Hawai'i team, losing 8-7 (5). Also in doubles play, Emma Moratalla Sanz and Tallia Harper picked up a first-round win in the Round of 64 before falling in the second round.
In the singles main draw, Victoria Santibañez Luna, Ho, Moratalla Sanz and Zhytelna each won their first round matches at Long Beach.

The Matadors complete their fall schedule in three weeks when they host their annual CSUN Fall Tournament from Nov. 8-11 at Matador Tennis Complex.
