Five Matadors Collect All-Big West Accolades

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---Five members from the CSUN Women's Soccer team earned all-conference honors on Saturday, the Big West office announced. The quartet of Angelica Claiborne, Yoshi Rubalcava, Cailey Jackson and Paige Califf received All-Big West Honorable Mention accolades while Kayden Perigo was placed on the All-Freshman Team.

A senior from San Diego, Claiborne capped off her CSUN career with her first career All-Big West honor. Claiborne started all 19 matches and played in all but 24 minutes on the season including every minute of Big West play. She would anchor the Matador defense to three shutouts on the season with two coming in conference action. Claiborne also served as team captain for her final season with the Matadors, helping the program improve their win total by four games.

In her CSUN career, Claiborne played in 75 total matches and made 66 starts as one of the team's defensive stalwarts. She picked up an assist in her time with the Matadors and totaled 18 shots with 10 on goal.
Originally from El Paso, Texas, Rubalcava had a career season in leading CSUN with five goals and 12 points to go with two assists and 29 shots with 11 on goal over 19 matches. She closed the regular season ranked tied for seventh place in the Big West in goals and ninth in points. A total of four of Rubalcava's goals came against Big West competition while she recorded two game-winning strikes against Long Beach State and North Dakota.
A junior midfielder, Rubalcava came into the season hitting the net just once with two points over her first two seasons with CSUN. The Big West honor is the first of her collegiate career.
Jackson, a Rancho Cucamonga native, also enjoyed a season filled with personal bests. The junior started all 19 matches at forward where she finished second on the team with four goals and 10 points. Jackson was also second in the shot department with 35 total and 19 on goal. In Big West play, Jackson had three points, highlighted by a game winner at Cal State Bakersfield that kept CSUN alive for postseason contention until the final day of the season.
Jackson's Big West honor is the first of her career as well. Entering the 2024 season, Jackson had one goal total over her first two seasons with the Matadors.

A sophomore defender, Califf helped steady the Matador backline during the year. Califf started all 19 matches on the season, playing full time in 11 contests while appearing in all but 10 minutes in Big West play. She also added an assist, which came in a 1-1 tie against Cal State Fullerton. Also assigned to take many of CSUN's set pieces this season, Califf had 20 shots with four on goal.
Califf's All-Big West selection is also a first in her two-year CSUN career. She has started 35 of 36 matches with CSUN.

Perigo had a breakout freshman season with CSUN in 2024, producing two goals, one assist and five points. She earned a starting spot at forward early in the season, eventually starting 17 of 18 matches, All five of her points came in Big West play including in back-to-back matches. Perigo recorded her first career game-winning goal in a victory over UC San Diego.
A native of Olympia, Wash., Perigo totaled 18 shots with 11 on goal as a true freshman.
