LAST TIME OUT
The Matadors are coming off a come-from-behind 7-4 win over San Diego on Tuesday at Matador Field where CSUN would score five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. CSUN trailed 4-1 heading to the home half of the seventh before the team rallied to score five times all with two outs. Mason Le brought CSUN to within two on an RBI single while pinch hitter Ben Griffin drove in the tying runs on a single moments later. Jakob Simons delivered the big blow, a two-run homer to left to put CSUN on top for the first time. Kevin Fitzer added another home run an inning later and Joshua Romero tossed the final two innings for the save. Out of the bullpen, Kenji Pallares gave CSUN strong relief work with 4.2 innings pitched and one run allowed.
AT THE PLATE
Graduate Jakob Simons continued his outstanding start to the season on Tuesday after his game-winning two-run homer. Simons has homered in five of eight games this season and reached base safely in each game while he tops the team in runs (9), hits (11), doubles (3), batting (.344) and slugging (.906). Senior Kamau Neighbors is also off to a hot start to the year, hitting .333 with six runs scored and seven RBI.
