Matadors Finish 15th at Season-Opening Palouse Collegiate

PULLMAN, Wash. - The CSUN men's golf team capped the season-opening Palouse Invitational with a team round of 292 but remained 15th at the conclusion of the tournament Wednesday at Palouse Ridge GC.
The Matadors posted team rounds of 289-306-292 to finish with a 54-hole score of 887. In his CSUN debut, junior Domenic De Luca was the low Matador, finishing 59th at 3-over 216.
Utah carded a team round of 52-under 800 to claim the team championship, while the Utes' Sergio Ramirez took home individual medalist honors at 21-under 192.
In a tournament that saw four Matadors make their Division I debut, De Luca posted a final round 1-over 72 to move up two spots on the final leaderboard. De Luca began the day in a tie for 61st after rounds of 68-76 on Tuesday.

The Matadors will be back on the course on Sept. 21 for the first of three rounds at the Air Force Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Course in Colorado.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Bryson Barnes, also making his Matador debut, had CSUN's low round on Wednesday finishing at even-par 71. Barnes opened the final round tied for 85th before moving up to 78th at 9-over 222 (70-81-71).
- Nick Fry, the third CSUN player to debut in the Matador lineup, finished 84th at 11-over 224 following rounds of 76-74-74.
- Liam Judkins was one shot behind Fry in 85th place at 12-over 225 after posting three consecutive rounds of 75-75-75.
- Yuo Torii, competing as an individual, finished 87th at 15-over 228Â after posting scores of 73-80-75.
- Dillon Jonke rounded out the Matador scoring, finishing 89th at 23-over 236 following rounds of 78-81-77.Â
