HOW IT HAPPENED
CSUN controlled the early minutes of the game, generating four shots over the first 12 minutes of action. The Matadors' pressure led to the game's first goal in the 17th minute when Edwards dribbled from the corner and set up Solorzano nicely with a pass at the six-yard mark. Solorzano would left foot the ball into the net for the early 1-0 CSUN lead.

The lead though was short-lived as the Lancers capitalized on a Matador foul in its own box in the 18th minute. Leo Menez was awarded the penalty kick and scored the equalizer to square the game at 1-1. Minutes later, CBU was granted a second penalty kick on another costly Matador foul. Josh Hallenberg would find the net on the penalty kick to give the Lancers a 2-1 edge. Solorzano nearly hit the equalizer in the 27th minute on a bullet that went high of the net. The score remained the same until the 34th minute when the Lancers' Blake D'Agostino took a shot from inside the 18. The attempt was deflected by a CSUN defender and went in the opposite direction of where goalkeeper Merrick Cook attempted to defend the play, resulting in a goal for CBU and a 3-1 lead.
CBU led by two goals at halftime and looked to stretch its lead further to start the second half. The Matadors though withstood a pair of shots and two corner kicks to stay within striking distance. Finally, in the 64th minute, the Matadors got back into the scoring column when they forced a turnover past midfield. Eyifehn Forfor intercepted a pass and sent a long ball up the middle of the field where Michael Blevin gathered the ball and found a streaking Edwards for the finish at the net.

CSUN soon struck again, this time taking advantage of a CBU foul in its own box. After Zack Harris drew a foul the penalty kick in the 68th minute, Solorzano calmly hit the back of the net through goalkeeper Hugo Do Rego to even the match at 3-3.

ACCORDING TO COACH TERRY DAVILA
"I felt we were on the front foot the whole night but gave up two PKs and a shot that got deflected and caught our goalie going the opposite direction. We never felt that we were out of the game. As you can see across the nation, there's a lot of parity early on this season. We just got to keep believing in our principles and train hard so we can be a team that is tough to beat."
UP NEXT
CSUN stays on the road for a Sunday night match at UNLV. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on WAC International.
