NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -Â The CSUN Men's Golf team opens the 2024-25 season on Tuesday at the Palouse Invitational hosted by Washington State at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.
Head coach Jim Bracken has announced the Matadors' 10-event schedule leading up to the 2025 Big West Championship at La Quinta Country Club which gets underway Apr. 27, 2025.
"We're looking forward to getting the season started," said CSUN head coach Jim Bracken who opens his 39th season this week. "We've had some really good qualifying scores so far and I think we're capable of putting together some solid results this year."
"We have three new players in the lineup this weekend, but these guys all have a lot of tournament experience," said Bracken. "Consistency is going to be the key for us again this year. We have a lot more depth on the team this year, it's been five or six years since we've had this kind of depth. I think we're going to be in the hunt in a lot of tournaments this season."
Following the season-opening tournament at Washington State, CSUNÂ will have four additional fall events on the schedule before wrapping up the 2024 calendar year. The Matadors will travel to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado for the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational (Sept. 21-23) before hosting the annual Bill Cullum Invitational at Saticoy Country Club on Oct. 7-8.
CSUN closes the fall with tournaments in Stockton (Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational) on Oct. 14-16 and Hawai'i (Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate) on Nov. 2-4.
Following the winter break, CSUN opens the spring in Fresno at the Nick Watney Invitational at Sunnyside Country Club (Feb. 24-25). The homestretch of the regular season sees CSUN travel to Bandon, Ore., for the Bandon Dunes Championship (Mar. 9-11), La Jolla for the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course (Mar. 23-25), Maricopa, Ariz., for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (Mar. 31-Apr. 1) and the El Macero Classic in Northern California (Apr. 11-13) before heading back to La Quinta for the Big West Championship (Apr. 27-29).
"This a good schedule with some strong tournaments," added Bracken. "Looking at the fall, Air Force is a good field and Hawai'i always has a strong field. The schedule will challenge us and give us the opportunity to compete against some good teams out of our area."
