FALL RECAP
The Matadors completed five different tournaments and had some impressive outings in each event. In September, CSUN went a perfect 10-0 in singles action at Claremont. CSUN also recorded five wins out of six doubles matchups at the same tournament.Â
Also in October, at the ITA Regionals, the doubles team of Yuliia Zhytelna and Angela Ho punched a ticket to the quarterfinals after defeating USC in the Round of 16.
The Matadors would play two more fall tournaments, the penultimate one being at UCSD for the Triton Fall Invitational. Sydney Wilson was a big highlight of the event from Oct. 17-19 as she advanced to the finals of the singles tournament. In all, CSUN registered six victories across singles and doubles play at UC San Diego.
CSUN closed out the Fall by hosting its own tournament, the CSUN Fall Invitational from Nov. 8-10. The Matadors finished off the three-day invite with nearly 20 victories in singles and doubles play.
LOOKING BACKÂ ONÂ 2024
The Matadors saw plenty of success in 2024. CSUN went 13-7 overall but had an impressive 7-2 record in Big West play, good enough for second in the conference for the second consecutive season. Home court was an advantage as CSUN was an impressive 9-2 at Matador Tennis Complex. The Matadors were undefeated in Big West play at home.
WHO'S BACK
Practically the entire roster from 2023-24 campaign is returning this season. The only player who competed in the 23-24 season who is not returning was graduate student Sasha Turchak. Jacqueline O'Neill, Annette Robertson, Madison Shepperson and Sydney Wilson all redshirted last season and will be looking to find the court in 2025.Â
