CSUN Releases 2025 Track & Field Schedule

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head track & field coach Justin Johnson has announced the 2025 schedule for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
"We are coming off a great fall where the team worked hard on the track and in the classroom," said Johnson who enters his sixth season overseeing the CSUN track & field programs. "My coaching staff and I feel good about where we are, and we are looking forward to a great season."
INDOOR SCHEDULE
CSUN begins the 2025 schedule with a busy indoor season where the Matadors travel out of state at least five times. The season kicks off for the second-straight season at Northern Arizona for the Lumberjack Team Challenge on Friday, Jan. 17 in Flagstaff, Ariz. A week later, the Matadors head to the Nevada Invite/Multis from Jan. 23-25 in Reno, Nev.
CSUN will make its longest trip of the indoor season to Kansas State's Steve Miller Invitational on Friday, Feb. 7 while members of the team will also take part in the Wolf Pack Classic in a return trip to Nevada from Feb. 7-8.
The 2025 MPSF Championships are set to take place Feb. 21-22 at the Podium in Spokane, Wash. The Matadors had a strong showing at the 2024 MPSF's with the men's team taking third place and claiming four individual titles.
This season's NCAA Indoor Championships will be held from March 14-15 in Virginia Beach, Va. At last year's Indoor Championship, Trey Knight represented CSUN with a second-place national finish in the weight throw.
OUTDOOR SCHEDULE
CSUN's 2025 outdoor schedule kicks off at the Beach Opener hosted by Long Beach State from March 7-8. Two weeks later, CSUN competes at USC's Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational from March 21-22. The month of March concludes with a trip to the Vince O'Boyle Classic hosted by UC Irvine (March 28-29).
Five meets will take place in April with CSUN traveling to the UNLV Rebel ELITE (April 4-5) before competing at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Multis (April 10-11) and Invitational (April 16-17). The Matadors take part in the 65th Annual Mt. SAC Relays from April 18-19 before concluding the month at the UC Santa Barbara Invite on April 26.
In the month of May, CSUN returns to UC Irvine for the Steve Scott Invitational from May 2-3 while members of the team will travel to the University of Arizona for the Desert Heat Classic on May 3. The regular season also includes the Occidental Invite on Saturday, May 10.
The 2025 Big West Championships will be hosted this year by Long Beach State at Jack Rose Track. The multis championship is set for May 9-10 while the rest of the individual titles and team titles are decided from May 16-17. CSUN claimed five individual championships at the 2024 Big West Championships with four coming on the men's side and one on the women's team.
This year's NCAA West First Round takes place from May 28-31 at E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas while the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held from June 11-14 at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. CSUN had four total qualifiers at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships highlighted by Knight earning a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw and the 4x100m relay team taking 13th place.
A LOOK BACK AT 2024
It was a banner year of competition for the CSUN Track & Field team last season. In addition to nine individual conference titles earned between the indoor and outdoor seasons, the Matadors reached the podium 26 times at conference championships. CSUN was represented in one event at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships and four others at the NCAA Outdoor Championships while the season concluded with the trio of Knight, Chase Mars and David Phillips, Jr. competing at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore.
