NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUNÂ senior goalkeeper Riley Liebsack earned her third Big West Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, the conference office announced on Monday. Liebsack's third weekly conference honor ties the Matador record for a single season in team history.Â
A Torrance native, Liebsack helped the Matadors make school history with back-to-back shutouts last week, pushing CSUN's streak to a new program-best seven in a row. Liebsack had seven saves for the week as the Matadors stayed unbeaten in Big West play with no goals allowed to conference teams.Â

She began the week with a three-save effort at Hawai'i on Thursday night. Liebsack saw 12 shots in the match as well as 11 corner kicks but withstood each attempt in helping CSUN to a 2-0 victory on the road.Â
The Matadors would give Liebsack one goal to play with in a competitive match against UC Davis last Sunday at Matador Soccer Field. After Yasmin Azar scored in the 30th minute to put CSUN up 1-0, Liebsack and the Matador defense did the rest in securing the clean sheet. Liebsack totaled four saves out of a possible nine shots as CSUN defeated UC Davis for the first time since the 2014 season.Â
Liebsack's third Big West Defensive Player of the Week award ties former goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo's record of three honors earned during the 2012 season. Liebsack previously received the Big West's weekly conference honor in back-to-back weeks on Sept. 29 and Oct. 6.Â
In the nation, Liebsack has moved into fifth place with her nine shutouts this season while the Matador defense as a unit are ranked 23rd in shutout percentage (.563).Â
CSUN is currently leading the Big West standings with a 5-0-2 conference record and 17 points with three matches remaining. The Matadors will hit the road this week for pivotal conference matches with UC Santa Barbara on Thursday at 7 p.m. and with Cal Poly on Sunday at 12 p.m.Â
