Women's Golf Finishes Fourth as Piar Ties for 6th at Soboba Classic

SAN JACINTO, Calif. - Junior Gracie Piar posted her fourth top-10 finish of the 2024-25 season, tying for sixth to lead the CSUN women's golf team at the UCR Soboba Classic Sunday at Soboba Springs Resort.
Piar, who was eighth after round one and tied for second after round two, carded a final round 5-over 77 to tie for sixth in the 41-player field. She had a solid opening nine on Sunday, posting eight pars and a single bogey to make the turn at 1-over. She added three birdies on the back nine but had to fight through three double bogeys and a bogey to finish the round at 5-over 77.
As a team, CSUN posted rounds of 291-304-307 to finish fourth in the seven-team field at 19-over 902. UC Irvine (880) claimed the team championship by three shots over UC Riverside (883) with Cal State Fullerton (891)Â finishing ahead of the Matadors, British Columbia (904), Cal State Bakersfield (930), and Eastern Washington (938).

After opening the spring with a fourth-place finish at UCR, the Matadors return to the course next week, traveling to Rio Verde, Ariz. for Western Michigan's Rio Verde Invitational (Feb. 21-23) at Rio Verde Country Club.

- Nicole Tanoue narrowly missed her second top 10 finish of the season, finishing 13th following a final round 6-over 78. She finished 4-over on the front nine and had posted a pair birdies in finishing 2-over on the back nine to finish the tournament at 9-over 225.
- Kim Turgut made it three Matadors in the top 20 after posting a final round 5-over 77 that included 14 pars, three bogeys, and one double bogey. posting an 8-over 80 in the second round. Turgut wound up 20th at 14-over 230 for the tournament.
- Meghan Paracuelles carded a final round 3-over 75, to move up three spots into 21st place at 15-over 231. She had one birdie and 13 pars in Sunday's final round.
- Ariya Soldwisch rounded out the CSUN scoring, finishing 31st at 24-over 240 following rounds of 78-77-85.
