De Luca 12th, Matadors Remain 13th at Bandon Dunes Championship

BANDON, Ore. - Junior Domenic De Luca remained in contention while the CSUN men's golf team posted a seven-shot improvement from round one to move up to 13th after two rounds of the Bandon Dunes Championship at Bandon Dunes Resort.
De Luca, who was tied for 14th after 18 holes, had three birdies in a round of 2-over 73 on Monday to move into a tie for 12th, one shot out of the top 10. De Luca matched his birdie total from Sunday's round one but added 11 pars on Monday to finish one stroke better. He heads into Tuesday's final round at 5-over 147.
After opening with a team score of 27-over 311, the Matadors carded a 20-over 304 and are 13th in the 16-team field at 47-over 615. Oregon (580) opened up a six-shot lead over Boise State in the team competition while Utah Valley's Dane Huddleston leads the individual competition by four shots.

"This is a tough golf course, but we're making it more difficult with our decision-making and course management. But this is a great experience for the guys, and I expect us to have our best round of the tournament and play well as a team tomorrow."
The Matadors will be paired with Tarleton State for the final round, which gets underway Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.

- Sophomore Dillon Jonke, who was on the cusp of the top 20 after a 4-over 75 in round one, had three birdies in posting a 6-over 77 in round two. Jonke slipped into a tie for 34th at 10-over 153.
- Sophomore Liam Judkins bounced back from an opening round 82, to card a second-round 5-over 76 which included four birdies. Judkins moved up into a tie for 68th at 15-over 158.
- Freshman Bryson Barnes followed up a 9-over 80 in round one with a 10-over 81 in round two and is tied for 78th at 18-over 161.
- Nick Fry notched a seven-shot improvement from round one to round two, finishing the day at 7-over 78. Fry is currently tied for 84th at 20-over 163.
- Freshman Tavin Boman, competing as an individual, had the largest score swing of the day posting a 10-shot improvement with a second-round 80.
