CSUN Takes Down UC Riverside for Second Consecutive Win

RIVERSIDE, Calif -- CSUN Women's Tennis defeated the UC Riverside Highlanders, 6-1, at the SRC Tennis Courts Monday afternoon. Elena Goodman, Angela Ho, Emma Moratalla Sanz, Madison Shepperson and Victoria Santibanez Luna all found the winner's circle for the Matadors. CSUN also took the doubles point as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles action, CSUN kicked off the day by taking half of the doubles point. Goodman and Moratalla Sanz overcame Crystal Kim and Sam Condevillamar 6-2. The Matadors would then sweep doubles play as Yuliia Zhytelna and Shepperson defeated Niki Shahbazi and Chloe Vu, 6-2. It is Zhytelna and Shepperson's sixth win in a row as they have started the season 6-0.

In singles action, Goodman earned the second point of the day when she defeated Kim 6-1. In the second set, Kim had to retire as Goodman was awarded the victory, giving CSUN a 2-0 lead.

Ho won her 11th match of the season to earn CSUN's third point. She took down Shahbazi , 6-1, 6-3 to make it 3-0 in favor of the Matadors.Â

Shepperson's battle with Condevillamar ended up sealing the win for the Matadors. Shepperson won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. That contest resulted in CSUN being up 4-0.

"The matches today were tough, especially with the heat making things more challenging." Shepperson said. "However I'm proud of how I kept my focus and mental strength to push through and come out on top."

Moratalla Sanz added to the road team's total. She got the best of Vu, 7-5, 6-1, making it a 5-0 lead. CSUNÂ would win its sixth and final point when Santibanez Luna defeated Kei Kato 7-6 (3), 6-4
