FOR STARTERS
CSUN looks to snap a three-game skid when it takes on nationally-ranked Oregon State. The series with the Beavers is the Matadors' final non-conference series of the season with only three midweek games scheduled against non-conference opponents for the remainder of the regular season. Following this weekend, the Matadors return to the road and resume Big West play against Long Beach State from April 25-27.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Matadors (8-24, 4-14 Big West) fell by a 14-6 score to Portland at Robert J. Hiegert Field this past Tuesday. CSUN spotted Portland six runs in the top of the first and ultimately dig a 7-1 hole through an inning and a half. The Matadors would get as close at 7-3 before Portland pulled away with a five-run fifth inning. Freshman Andrew Becker kept up his hitting ways with a two-run home run while he drove in three on the day. On the pitching side, Jason Davis was one of six to see action in the contest as he threw three solid innings with only an unearned run scoring and no hits allowed. Freshman Jackson Banuelos also gave CSUN a lift with two shutout frames late in the contest.

Halamicek has previously not pitched more than seven innings in a game in his two-year collegiate career. In the win, Halamicek struck out seven batters, one short of a career high. His complete game was the first by a Matador this season and the first nine-inning complete game since the 2022 season when Blaine Traxel went the distance against UC Riverside.
