CSUN Fires Final Round 7-under 281 to Tie for Seventh at Big West Championship

LA QUINTA, Calif. - Sophomore Liam Judkins capped an impressive Big West Championship, carding a career-low 5-under 67 to finish in a tie for eighth, and the CSUN Men's Golf team posted a season-best 7-under 281 to move into a tie for seventh at the conclusion of the 2025 Big West Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday at La Quinta Country Club.
Judkins, the low Matador player through two rounds, had six birdies and one bogey in the final round to finish the day at 5-under 67, which moved him into a tie for eighth at 4-under 212. Judkins' 54-hole total (212) is also a career-best, and his eighth-place finish is his second top 10 showing of the season.
As a team, CSUN followed up round of 295 and 293 with a final round 7-under 281, which is also a season-best for the Matadors. CSUN tied for the second best round of the day which moved the Matadors up from 11th into a tie for seventh in the 12-team field. Long Beach State (842) fired a final round 280 to pass Cal State Fullerton (847) and claim the Big West's automatic berth in the NCAA Championship. The Beach's Krishnav Chopraa led from start to finish in the individual competition, winning by seven shots over Dylan Ma of UC Santa Barbara.

"The guys definitely stepped up and had a good team round today, all five guys played well. That's the key to being a good golf team; having depth and getting all five guys to play well. I knew we had talent, we just had a hard time putting it together consistently this season. But it's a nice way to end the season, and we'll look forward to getting back on the course in the fall."

- Following Judkins, freshman Bryson Barnes also had his best round of the championship on Tuesday with three birdies and two bogeys in a 1-under round of 71. Barnes was 2-under through 12 holes before finishing 1-over the rest of the round to cap the day at 71 and the championship at 2-over 218 which tied for 21st.
- Fellow freshman Tavin Boman had three birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey in the final round to finish with his third consecutive round of 1-over 73. Boman wound up tied for 29th at 3-over 219.
- Domenic De Luca carded three birdies and one bogey on Tuesday to also post his best round at even-par 72. De Luca posted scores of 73-77-72 to finish tied for 42nd at 6-over 222.
- Sophomore Dillon Jonke subbed in for freshman Nick Fry in the final round and four birdies and three bogeys to match his low round of the season at 1-under 71.
