CSUN Tennis Boasts Multiple Honorable Mention Honors on All-Big West Teams

NORTHRIDGE, Calif -- Four members of the 2025 CSUN Women's Team earned All-Big West recognition on Thursday, the league office announced. Yuliia Zhytelna, Angela Ho, Victoria Santibanez Luna and Madison Shepperson all appeared on the honorable mention list for doubles, with Zhytelna also receiving honorable mention honors for singles play as well.Â

Playing on court No.1, Santibanez Luna and Ho finished over .500 with a record of 5-4, including going 2-2 in conference play. The one win outside of the Big West came against Fresno State on March 9, where CSUN fell 4-3.Â
Also exclusively playing on court No. 1 was the team of Zhytelna and Ho. This pair, which finished the season on a two game winning streak, wound up 5-1 overall while going 2-0 in Big West play.Â
Zhytelna, the senior from Ukraine also had a stellar doubles campaign with her partner, Shepperson. The duo went 10-2 overall, with a 6-2 record on court No. 2 and a perfect 4-0 record on court No. 3. This pairing started off the season flawlessly by winning their first nine matches including winning their first six conference matches.Â

The senior from Ukraine also made the honorable mention list in singles as well. Zhytelna finished 9-12 in singles play, playing exclusively on court No. 1, the court reserved for the strongest player on each team.

Zhytelna has added to her list of accolades and has cemented herself as one of the best Matador tennis players in CSUN's history. She was previously named 2024 Singles All-Big West Honorable Mention, 2024 Doubles All-Big West First Team, 2023 Singles All-Big West Second Team, and 2023 Doubles All-Big West Honorable Mention.

Santibanez Luna has added to her accolades as well. She was previously named 2024 Singles All-Big West Honorable Mention as well as 2024 Doubles All-Big West Honorable Mention.

Ho, the junior from San Francisco was a 2023 Doubles All-Big West First Team. This is the first career accolade for Shepperson, a freshman from Mira Loma, CA.

CSUN wrapped up the 2025 season with an 11-10 record, going 4-5 in Big West play an 7-3 at home. The Matadors won a first round postseason match for the first time since 2023 this year before ultimately falling to Hawai'i in the second round.
