Mosley and Louison-Roe Win Titles on Final Day of Big West Championships

LONG BEACH, Calif.---The CSUN Track & Field teams wrapped up the final day of the 2025 Big West Championships with two more individual titles on Saturday at Jack Rose Track.
Jay Louison-Roe claimed CSUN's third consecutive men's triple jump Big West title along with the fourth in five years. On the women's team, Summer Mosley won her second Big West title of the weekend, taking first place in the discus for the Matadors' first women's discus win at the conference championships since 2017.
As a team, the Matador men's team were sixth out of 10 Big West teams with 62 total points. Cal Poly won the men's team title with 186 points followed by Cal State Fullerton (167), Long Beach State (127), UC Santa Barbara (104) and UC Irvine (69). Below CSUN was UC San Diego (36), UC Riverside (32), UC Davis (26) and Cal State Bakersfield (9).
The CSUN women were ninth overall with 44 points out of 11 teams. UC Irvine took home the team title with 150.5 points followed by Cal Poly (149), Long Beach State (109.5), Hawai'i (76.5), UC San Diego (76.5), Cal State Fullerton (58), UC Davis (52) and UC Riverside (47). UC Santa Barbara (38) and Cal State Bakersfield (18) were 10th and 11th, respectively.
MEN'S PERFORMANCES
In his first appearance at the Big West Championships, Louison-Roe won the triple jump title with a leap of 15.67m (51-5) for 10 team points. That jump came on his fifth attempt of the series, setting a personal record and moving him into 10th on the school's all-time list. Also in the triple jump, Tzu-Ting Chan was 12th with a leap of 13.98m (45-10.5) and Jorge Romo, Jr. was 13th with a mark of 13.94m (45-9).
CSUN's 4x400m relay of Gabe Martinez, Walter Pierce, Jayden Smith and Logan Davis would earn eight team points on Saturday, finishing as runners-up in the competition with a time of 3:09.26.
The Matadors would have three athletes score points in the 400m finals. Tibyasa Matovu was second overall, finishing at a time of 46.96 for eight points while Martinez was seventh at 47.97 for two points and Pierce was eighth at 48.31 for one point.
Also reaching the podium was Elijah Ignacio in the discus. He would finish third overall with a personal-record toss of 55.08m (180-8), giving CSUN six team points. That toss ranks eighth-best in school history. Guillermo Lopez also competed in the discus, finishing 12th with a throw of 46.11m (151-3).
The CSUN 4x100m relay team scored five points for CSUN on Saturday as the quartet of Joey Nations, Caleb Harrell, Davis and Chase Mars were fourth overall by charting a time of 40.24.
Mars would come up short in his defense of the Big West 200m title. He ran at 21.02 in the finals of the event, finishing in seventh place for three team points.
Rounding out the men's performances, Thomas Achten set a PR in the 5000m race at 15:22.38 to finish 30th overall. Camilo Torres was close behind in 32nd place at 15:31.53 while Ramiro Mateos set a PR of 15:43.41 to finish 35th.
WOMEN'S PERFORMANCES
After winning the Big West hammer throw title on Friday, Mosley followed up that performance with one of the best discus efforts in CSUN history. She would take first in the event with a throw of 53.51m (175-6), good enough for 10 team points. Mosley's toss came on her third attempt and was the fourth-best in school history. Her discus win was the first at the Big West Championships since Brianna Cueva in 2017.
Amani Britton also scored in the discus, finishing sixth with a throw of 46.41m (152-3) for three points. Treasure Brown was 12th at 43.57m (142-11) and Myli Level was 13th at 43.48m (142-8).
Jasmine Haskell reached the podium in the 400m finals, taking third place overall with a PR time of 53.71 for six team points. Haskell's time ranks eighth-best in Matador history.
In the triple jump, Camryn Harris scored three team points with a sixth-place finish. Her best leap reached 12.11m (39-8.75).
Finally, in the 5000m, Elin Markarian paced the Matadors with a time of 18:22.43 to finish 33rd overall. Savannah Ganter was right behind in 34th place, reaching a PR of 18:24.03 while Ami Jacobson was 35th at 18:30.34. Sakura Divecchio also set a PR with a time of 19:13.52 to place 37th.

"Lots of mixed emotions. We had a lot of great performances this weekend. We also fell short in a few events, but that's how championship meets go. I'm proud of everything we accomplished and we're hungry for more."

CSUN Track & Field will embark on the NCAA West First Round, held this year at E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas. The event will determine who will qualify for the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.
