CSUN Track & Field Notches Four Wins on the Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field wrapped a pair of meets on Saturday as the Matadors claimed four total wins across the men's and women's teams.
The Matadors notched two wins at the Desert Heat Classic, hosted by University of Arizona, on Saturday. Jay Louison-Roe won his second men's triple jump event of the outdoor season while the men's 4x400m relay team was victorious for the third time in 2025.
Senior thrower Summer Mosley highlighted the Matador women's performances at the Steve Scott Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine, from Friday to Saturday. Mosley claimed first-place victories in the hammer throw and discus event.
DESERT HEAT CLASSIC RESULTS
MEN'S PERFORMANCES
Louison-Roe bested 10 other athletes in the triple jump with a mark of 15.32m (50-3.25). Counting his two triple jump wins in the indoor season, Louison-Roe now has four first-place finishes overall in 2025.
CSUN won its third 4x400m relay event on Saturday, as the team of Gabe Martinez, Logan Davis, Walter Pierce and Tibyasa Matovu defeated 12 other teams and claimed first with a time of 3:08.73.
The men's 400m outdoor record would be broken as well at the meet with Matovu setting a new CSUN benchmark of 46.01, good enough for third place in the event.
In other events, Joey Nations was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 7.56m (24-9.75) while he was the top Matador in the 100m with his wind-aided time of 10.46 to finish 22nd overall. Chase Mars also paced CSUN in the 200m with a time of 21.25 to take 13th place.
WOMEN'S PERFORMANCES
Jasmine Haskell set a new personal record in the 400m in Arizona, finishing 15th overall with a time of 54.34.
In field events, Camryn Harris took 15th place in the triple jump by registering a mark of 11.75m (38-6.75). Alba Moreno Paredes was tied for 16th place in the high jump with her best leap of 1.64m (5-4.5). Zola Grey led CSUN in the long jump, as she claimed 19th place with a leap of 5.90m (19-4.25).

WOMEN'S PERFORMANCES
Mosley opened up her stay at the Steve Scott Invitational with a first-place finish in the hammer throw out of a 33-athlete field on Friday. Her first toss of the series went for 60.67m (199-0), giving Mosley a second hammer throw title this season. Two other Matadors cracked the top 10 in the event with Marina McNeil-Vivanco taking sixth place with a PR toss of 50.10m (164-4) and Emily Hutchinson finishing ninth with a throw of 47.97m (157-4).
On Saturday, Mosley went on to claim first in the discus with a personal record throw of 52.76m (173-1). Mosley's discus victory was her second in as many weeks while her throw is the sixth-best in school history. Also in the discus, Amani Britton took third place with a new PR toss of 47.19m (154-10) while Myli Level was fifth with a throw of 45.70m (149-11).
In other field events, Hutchinson led the way in the shot put with a fifth-place finish of 14.23m (46-8.25) followed by Treasure Brown in ninth place, who set a PR of 13.44m (44-1.25). Brianna Kelpis was 14th overall in the high jump with a leap of 1.53m (5-0.25) while Danielle Irvin led CSUN in the long jump with her mark of 5.48m (17-11.75) to finish 23rd.
In distance races, Savannah Ganter was fourth in the 3000m-steeplechase with a PR time of 11:15.82, good enough for third-best in school history. Elin Markarian charted a time of 18:30.05 to take fifth in the 5000m open while Sakura Divecchio was seventh in the 800m open at 2:21.24. In the 5000m invitational race, Ami Jacobson took ninth place with her time of 17:57.95. Ganter also competed in the one mile open event, finishing 12th at 5:21.90 while Divecchio competed in the one mile invitational, taking 15th place at 5:09.58. Lastly, Leann Hamilton was 20th overall in the 800m, charting a time of 2:18.77.
Ali Medina claimed 21st place in the 400m with a time of 1:00.34 while she was also 45th in the 200m at 26.58. Rounding out the races, Zoey Igbinigie finished 33rd in the 100m with her time of 12.64.
MEN'S PERFORMANCES
Ramiro Mateos paced the Matadors in the 3000m-steeplechase with a personal record time of 9:25.51 to finish in fourth place followed by Diego Rodriguez who set a PR of 9:47.73 to finish in seventh place. In other distance races, Elijah Stenberg was sixth in the one mile run invitational at 4:14.45 with Camilo Torres right behind in seventh place, setting a PR of 4:16.81. Mateos also led CSUN in the one mile run open, taking ninth place with a PR of 4:29.09. Rounding out the distance races, Darrick Jacob, Jr. was 17th in the 800m at 1:57.42.
In throwing competitions, Elijah Ignacio had another solid showing in the shot put, taking fourth place with his throw of 16.98m (55-8.5). He would also finish fifth in the discus on the weekend, throwing at 52.92m (173-7).
In other field events, Jonrich Dela Cruz registered a new personal record leap of 7.14m (23-5.25) to finish sixth in the long jump. TJ Wiggins took 12th place in the high jump with a successful leap of 1.78m (5-10). In the triple jump, Jorge Romo, Jr. was 12th with a mark of 12.55m (41-2.25).
Rounding out the races, Ehinome Inegbenoise took ninth place in the 200m with a new PR time of 21.69 while Jayden Smith led the way for CSUN in the 400m by charting a time of 49.44 to take 12th place.

CSUN will be represented at the 2025 Big West Multi-Event Championships next weekend from May 9-10 on the campus of Long Beach State.
