FULLERTON, Calif. --- The CSUN softball team (1-4) fell to the Portland State Vikings, 8-5, Sunday afternoon at Anderson Family Field during the final day of the Easton Classic.
Amber Rivas led the Matadors with two RBIs while Vanessa Perez drove in a run as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Vikings struck first. After two consecutive singles and a hit by pitch, Mia Martinez walked with the bases loaded to make it a 1-0 game after the first inning.
Â
CSUN responded in the next half inning with a run of its own. Rivas singled after a groundout to kick off a Matador rally. Isabella Valdez and Savannah Simons then both singled to load the bases full of Matadors. After a strikeout, Perez singled up the middle to even the score at one apiece.Â
Â
PSU quickly retook the lead after four hits in the bottom of the second, three of which came with runners on base in the form of a double and two singles. The Vikings ended the inning with a three run lead up 4-1.
Â
In the top of the third, CSUN struck back with its best inning of the day. Raegan Jackson begun the frame with a hit-by-pitch. The senior outfielder then stole second. Makenzi Padilla then singled through the left side and advanced to second on the throw, advancing Jackson to third.
Â
Rivas then singled up the middle, plating the two runners on base as CSUN was now within one at 4-3. Moments later, Simons singled through the left side, and Rivas advanced to third. Rivas would eventually score on a wild pitch to tie the game.
Â
Perez reached on an error by the second baseman and Simons scored on the play to put CSUN on top 5-4 at the end of two and a half innings.
Â
In the bottom of the third, PSU's Gracie Toney homered to left field, tying the score once again at 5-5.Â
