2017 (SENIOR): Took part in four of the five CSUN events…ran a career best 6k time of 22:57.10 to earn 52nd place at the Big West Championship…ran 19:02.50 over the 5k course at the UCR Highlander Invitational…turned in a time of 19:30.60 over the 3.1m Mustang Challenge course to finish 19th on Sept. 30…opened season with a 23:18.00 performance over 5k at the UCR Invitational.
2016 (JUNIOR): Competed in three of six meets for the Matadors...best finish of the season was 70th at the Big West Championship after posting a time of 25:57.90…best 6k time of the season came at the Sacramento State Invitational where she ran 23:43.10…also finished 78th at the UCR Invitational in a time of 23:57.94...was one of four Matador runners named Academic All-Conference.
2015 (SOPHOMORE): Ran in six of seven meets for the Matadors...best finish of the season, seventh, came at the season opening Pepperdine Invitational where she ran 16:00.34…finished 59th at the Big West Championships in a time of 23:25.85…went on to finish 229th at the NCAA West Regional in a time of 24:34.50…was one of four Matador runners named Academic All-Conference.
2014 (FRESHMAN): Competed in all seven meets for the Matadors…finished 54th at the Big West Championships in a time of 23:25.60…went on to finish 211th at the NCAA West Regional in a time of 24:04.0…best finish of the season was 22nd place at the Aztec Invitational in a time of 20:11.90.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2014 graduate of Valencia High School...competed in both cross country and track for coach Jeff Gilkey...reached the CIF prelims and finals at Mt. SAC for the Vkings in cross country in 2014...cross country personal best was 18:48..graduated with a 3.68 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Ruth and John Newton...has two sisters, Natalie and Beverly...both parents are CSUN graduates...favorites include the Los Angeles Dodgers, distance runner Jordan Hasay, the TV show "Criminal Minds" and the music of One Direction and Carrie Underwood...says the toughest thing about being an athlete is "balancing school, family,sleep time and practice" and the best thing is "eating all you want."
