2020: Did not compete as Big West canceled season due to COVID-19 concerns.
2019 (SOPHOMORE): Entered all four races for CSUN…placed 55th in the season-opening USD Invitational, running 27:24.60 over the 6k course…was 90th at The Master’s Invitational, posting a time of 19:33.80 on the 3.11m course…recorded a career-best 6k time at the Highlander Invitational, running 23:20.70 to come in 92nd…finished 69th in a time of 23:54.4 at the Big West Championship.
2018 (FRESHMAN): Competed in four of the six CSUN events…season best 5k time occurred during the Highlander Invitational (19:57.10)…put up a season best 6k time at the UC Riverside Invitational which was 23:49.40…was also entered in the Capital Cross Challenge and the Mark Covert Classic which opened the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2018 graduate of Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif…lettered in cross country and track & field…team finished second at the 2017 California State Meet...earned All-Valley and All-League honors for the Bears in cross country…was named team captain as a senior for coach Brian Weaver...graduated with a 3.7 grade point average and high honor roll accolades.
PERSONAL: Daughter of AJ DeStasio and Amy Thompson…stepmother is Kelli DeStasio…a public health major…has three sisters, Allison, Presley and Addyson and one brother, Jackson…Favorite athlete is Ashton Eaton, favorite TV show is Lucifer, favorite food is Gnocchi, favorite solo artist is Jason Aldean, favorite website is Tik Tok…chose CSUN because the campus is beautiful and staffed with admirable professors and coaches…says the best thing about being an athlete is the long-lasting memories and friendships built within her sport…says the toughest thing about being an athlete is waking up for morning workouts…her pregame ritual is to warm-up to music…her pre-race superstition is 30 minutes before she races, she eats a couple of peanut M&M’s…the best athlete she has competed against is Katelyn Tuohy...her advice to young people is “enjoy each year of competing, because you never know when it could end…the biggest obstacle she has overcome is getting out of “runner’s block”…her greatest heroes are her parents who have made her into the person she is and have always believed in her dreams.
